Dani bought some olive wood coasters for Mike, who likes fine wood a lot.
She bought me some really fine olive oil (to use in cooking for her, of course!), so I had to buy a carafe to put it in. Anna is the name of the potter, and her place, Orviet’Anna is well known to […]

Quaint and picturesque don’t even begin to describe Orvieto! Every corner you turn, there’s another picture postcard just waiting to be snapped :-)
As narrow as these streets are (and as steep!), the cars do go both directions…and at break-neck speeds. Interestingly, you rarely hear horns being used.

After flying from Boston to Frankfurt to Rome, we took a regional train up to Orvieto where Dani has been studying for the past four months. Orvieto is just about dead center in Italy, in Umbria, and has the most lovely countryside surrounding it you’d ever want to see. The train station wasn’t pretty, but […]

Let’s admit it…we’re all curious about other artists’ opinions. Since we often work in sort of isolated conditions, it’s wonderful to have the world of the web available for social interaction and tip trading. Dan, at the Empty Easel has a whole category of polls.
Want to know how much time your fellow artists spend on […]

Have fun with Interactivate: Tessellate!
If playing with this cool tool isn’t enough, you can look at lots of tessellation art at the Tessellation Database. In addition, there’s always Tessellations.org …check out the tessellating frenchfries :-)
Here are two of my previous posts with ideas about how to use these patterns:

If you collect ribbon, pretty soon you know you’ve got a snarly mess, either in a plastic bin, a dozen zip-lock bags, etc. Here’s a really clever idea for keeping them all straight…JM Day shows us how!
