Why didn’t I think of that? I gave up a vinyl padded one since my kitty uses it as a jumpstart to get up to the window. Needless to say, it didn’t last long before it was totally shredded. Now I have one of the bath carpet rug covers on a wooden seat. I really have been out of folk art painting for a while (my craft room furniture being my last project) if I can’t see any surface as a possibility for painting!!

So paint away, my dear! You can put a good thick resin coating over it if needed to keep your kitty from scratching it up :-)
