Bead Journal Project - March’s Chaste Moon

March’s Chaste Moon

For this month’s Beaded Journal Page, I had the work do double duty. There was a challenge in one of my favorite forums (Bead Arts forum) to create something “hidden in plain sight”. I chose to work braille words into my journal page, using a different size (but same color) beads. Here’s the explanation for the piece:

Thanks, Shayla! My first idea was to do a design that only showed up if you were red/green colorblind, but since no one in my family is…what would be the point? LOL!!

I love it! What an inspiration, and a great way to show us where the raised letters are! You are so clever…. every month I look to see what you are going to do this month with your moon!

It looks like a serene moon too. What a nice way to do the page and make it special. I love the way the page shimmers with the waviness of the lines of beads.

I thought it was awesome even before I read about the braille! Just wonderful, Cyndi!

Oh wow, I totally love that piece ! It looks great, with the dots like black currants, and the braille message is a wonderful idea and very moving !

Thank you so much, everybody! The largest beads are black iris pearls, the Braille dots are size 8/0s and the majority of the beads are 11/0 delicas. It does have a lot of shimmer due to the gold and a smattering of silver-lined blues. The fabric underneath has the swirled pattern on it, and I just pretty much chose a piece with the look I wanted and followed it in beading…can’t take credit for that!

Cyndi this is beautiful. You’ve got a lot of work in this piece and your time and patience shows. I also like the Braille writing on it. Awesome, keep creating.

    Beautiful Cyndi! (Double entendre intended.)

I love the idea of hiding the message in Braille.

The swirls look very Van Gogh “Starry Night”.
