Flint knapping with Ken Wallace

One of the loveliest things about living in a small town (which I do, but not this one!) is that lots of neato cool small town things go on during the summer. My nephew Rob, a junior in high school this fall, has been the site manager for the Perry Farmer’s Market for 3 years now. Along with local produce, canned, jarred, and handcrafted goods, the market also brings in musicians and demonstrators. I was fortunate enough to meet Ken Wallace, a man who is passionate about his art and generous with his knowledge. Can’t beat that combination!
Ken doesn’t have his own website, but you can learn more about him on the Knapper’s Wall…he’s second from the top :-)

I sent a link to this to my grandson. He loves weapons (and hates to hurt anything- go figure). He made a bow and some arrows (no points) this summer. Thanks.

Very cool! Things like this make me miss living in a small town - altho more than these neat little gatherings/demonstrations/festivals change when you move from a tiny town in NC to Denver, CO! He’s really talented and I’m glad you posted this - it gave me a chance to show my boys another awesome avenue of “manly” art. (Can you hear Tim Allen’s battlecry in the background?? lol)
Thanks for another great post - you’re always surprising us with your fantastic finds!

Aren’t you sweet! The only trick is to always have a camera handy :-)
