Image transfers by Arlene!
Arlene did two image transfers recently. I want you to see them both together here, because she used the same image but did one on muslin and the other on her own handmade paper! And here’s the really cool thing: these are the first transfers Arlene has ever done!! She has also started a blog called Altered State of Mind, and it already is filling up with wonderful things that Arlene makes. Thank you so much for sharing these, Arlene!

I asked Arlene what process she used, and she explained that they were acrylic medium transfers using photo paper:
[I] used Epson matte photo paper to print out my image on my inkjet printer. Then put a thin layer of the Golden onto the muslin and the handmade paper, burnished the back of the image well. I waited about 30 to 45 minutes and peeled the Epson photo paper up. I did not have any of the white fuzzies that I have read about using this method. And the next time I do the handmade paper I will peel the transfer image up sooner. The two papers were stuck together along the top edge where the medium had dried and I had a hard time seperating them. I then rubbed some brown chalk along the ripped edge to age it because I did not like the bright white of the torn paper.

I don’t know how she did this with the handmade paper. I tried it and all the paper stuck to the photopaper. I was trying to put the paper on top of painted canvas, and the picture on the paper. Maybe I’ll try the caulk one next and have better luck..haha
