Jane South’s huge assemblage constructions
I love these! Too bad I don’t have anyplace to put one of them :-)
It seems to me that Jane South’s paper constructions need a huge corporate or museum setting to really do them justice…and yet, they are exactly the type of assemblage that I dream of having on one of my walls. Heck, I’ve got a Victorian house with really high ceilings. That oughta be good for something!
Jane sketches, hand-cuts, paints, and folds until her final large scale assemblages are built up into the bold, clean constructions that she envisions.

When I came across Jane’s work a few months ago it got me thinking about making large assemblages from woodturned components. I’m not quite sure where to start with such a huge project, or whether I would ever see it through to completion:)

So why couldn’t it just be some monstrosity sitting in the corner of your workshop, which you bang away on every so often when you feel like it? For the rest of your life! LOL!!
Go for it Derek!

There’s an idea now! My workshop is a bit short on corners that aren’t already filled up with tat, but there is some spare ceiling space!
