Well, it’s not mixed-media yet. I’ve taken too many art classes & wasn’t making art!
I’ve discovered soft material that simulates lino-cuts. I’m using the cheapest = 4×6″ for $1.30, to learn the tools, printing, etc.
This is the rubbery stuff, carved by me, then cut into 3 pieces. I have much to learn (curved cuts, composition…) & am excited that I can do this at home!
If anyone can share how to make a template onto which I can put the “lino”, then I could do exact lay-overs.
Looking forward to seeing all your art! These are papers I bought in Chinatown, San Francisco. They’re called JOSS PAPER. Many sizes, and are stamped w/ a color & a gold or silver “leaf” (or both) printed over that. Very good for printing onto, and cheap = 150 pieces were $1.50 . There may be online places to buy Joss papers.
I was told they’re burned as offerings at weddings, funerals, birthdays. I asked if printing on them would still be respectful of the culture, and was told it is OK.
Thanks so much for sharing this, Tony!.
